A relatively young female elf drops a note with an attached envelope off at the front desk of Fateshifter Industries addressed to a Mr. Zen Fateshifter.

Zen,

Please accept my most sincere apologies. I was given this message many years ago to give to you. I can only assume the trauma of the occurance that led to me receiving this was so traumatic that I forgot it was in my possession. Due to recent events, I was going through some of my old things and found this amongst some of my belongings from decades ago. I hope what’s contained wasn’t of any real consequence.

May Elune guide you,

Orea Duskbloom

Inside the envelope are two letters sealed with wax. Embedded in the seal is a symbol – a shield graced with a glowing crescent moon and two swords crossed over the shield. One of the letters is addressed to Zen while the other is addressed to Nor’itel.

My sweet Boomcat,

I hope that you never have to receive this letter for, if you do, that means I’m no longer with you. Writing this is difficult for me. Not because I fear death, but because I know that I will no longer have you by my side.

Why am I writing this now? Because the satyrs and the trolls have increased their activity in the area. You know it’s both my duty and privilege to ensure the safety of our people and there is always the chance I will not come back when I go to defend our home. I realize our child must be a shock to you but know that I did not intend to keep my pregnancy a secret from you – I simply wished to surprise you with our beautiful little Nor’itel when you returned.

If I do exit this life and return to Elune, I have only one regret – that I can no longer hold you and our daughter.

I love you, my dearest Zen.

Zen read the note sadly. "If I had just been there..." He closed his eyes and visibly shuddered as he forced away a painful memory. "Don't worry Fe'ra I found our little Nor'itel. Though she's not really 'little' anymore." He leaned back in his chair with a weary and tired look. "Well, I need to arrange a meeting with Weedy."
