We began as a small World of Warcraft roleplay guild on October 3, 2007.
As years went on, we branched into other games and started tabletop campaigns together. Today, we have two established guilds in World of Warcraft and Guild Wars 2, and hang out in many places in between.
Diversity, Inclusion, Safety, & Respect
We’re a diverse community from all walks of life, banded together by our love of storytelling and video games. After a long day of work, stress, and other real-world commitments, the VRPN (Vanguard Roleplay Network) is a place for chilled adult gamers to play with like-minded folks, have fun, and make memories. We welcome fellow gamers and storytellers who want the same.
Our Mainstays:
The core games we play together and recruit from are:
World of Warcraft
Guild Wars 2
Game-wise, our focuses are roleplay and light PvE, focusing on small-group content for story completion.
Our MMORPG Guilds
Vanguard of the Rose
Server: Wyrmrest Accord-US, World of Warcraft Guildmaster: Dawnfield
Unique to the VRPN is we maintain a network site with full creative writing support. Guildies who love writing can publish their roleplay stories as well as original works for the fellow writers and readers.
Our Auxiliaries:
Between time in our favorite two MMOs, we also play:
Darktide
Deep Rock Galactic
Sea of Thieves
The list goes on…
Tabletop Campaigns
We also have 5 ongoing tabletop roleplay campaigns in:
Dungeons & Dragons 5E
Pathfinder 2nd Edition
Latest Roleplay Writings
Here’s what our members have recently written in their character journals. Writings include our MMORPG games and tabletops.
Six years ago “Greetings, child. It took much time and expense to acquire you. Let us see if it was worth it.” A prick of a needle, and the pink-hued one-year-old girl howled. “Yes, feel the pain. It is yours. In time, you will learn to feed on it – it will give you power.” […]
((A long time ago in an RP universe far far away, there were several long-lasting storylines. One of those included the birth of twins. The boy, Jack, survived. The daughter, Samantha, did not. Or so everyone thought…)) Seven galactic standard years ago It was a difficult birth, the hardest he had ever been a part […]
Rann held her breath, struggling to avoid considering how she would next try to find her quarry if this didn’t pan out. Mallory hadn’t been seen since she had opened a small cafe in Boralus. One day, she simply stopped showing up. The cafe had eventually closed, repossessed by Kul Tiras and reopened under a […]
(reading guide: Ghosts are Italicized, living are “quoted”, “when both, singing together”, Caps is shouting) Candles are set in a large circle along the runes of the protected zone in the hideout, a task for the apprentice, as Argus sets a record on the player. In World of Warcraft, the Vanguard of the Rose was founded to broker cooperation between the Alliance and Horde. Similar to its velvet yet thorned namesake, the Rose specializes in both diplomatic and martial means to achieve its goals — the latter, only as necessary.
However, from the Rose’s inception, the on-and-off-again Alliance-Horde conflict made the its peacekeeping mission fraught. All this culminated with Theramore’s destruction — a port that up till then, was incidentally called home.
Following Theramore’s destruction, the Rose dedicated itself to removing genocidal warchiefs of the Horde, beginning with Garrosh Hellscream, pausing at the peaceful albeit short tenure of Vol’jin Darkspear, and ending with Sylvanas Windrunner.
Separate from the faction conflict, the Rose battled other threats. From the Red Witch, Sha’s nightmares after losing Theramore, betrayal within from the most unlikely places, and allying with rogue Covenants in the afterlife, the Vanguard has rose and prevailed.
Our Guild Story: Guild Wars 2
In Guild Wars 2, the Vanguard of the Silver Dawn was sanctioned by the guild initiative and active in battling the threats against Tyria, preparing for new threats to arise.
Formed by Riathan Bordren, former noble of Ascalon, the Vanguard have braved many threats both Dragon-borne and Mist-borne. Formed from all walks of Tyria’s denizens, an unlikely band, yet willing to rise to any challenge.
Their latest threat was against a Shadow King spawned from the Mists from an echo of one of humanity’s most shameful days, seeking to corrupt and turn humanity back onto a different, darker path.
New allies made from hidden enemies, lives started anew without the misdirection of a false leader. Ancient magics stir in the wake of the final days of the Dragon Cycle, and the Vanguard Seek to understand an ancient blade, and a new source of magic that may prove disastrous to all who come in it’s way.
